About Me
Asya M. Little
MA, NCC, LCMHCA
Hi, I’m Asya — the owner and lead therapist of The Shift Counseling & Wellness.
I’m a proud Wake Forest alumna and Double Deacon (BA ’22 , MA ’24), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA, #A20085) in North Carolina. Outside of the therapy room, I am a yogi, dog mama, and avid lover of learning.
My work blends trauma-informed care with evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Expressive Arts Therapy. I am also a certified grief counselor (GCTC) and a Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F) informed by The Center for Trauma and Embodiment. Together, these frameworks shape the grounded, holistic way I show up in therapeutic and wellness spaces.
At the core of my work is the belief that many of our patterns — the roles we take on, the expectations we carry, the ways we react, and the stories we tell about ourselves — were shaped long before we had language or choice. Therapy with me is about gently unpacking what no longer fits, reconnecting with who you truly are, and learning how to move forward with more intention.
In sessions, you can expect a balance of support and accountability in a space that is culturally aware, judgment-free, and real. You’ll be met with honesty, curiosity, and compassion… and, at times, a gentle challenge.
My goal is to help you make sense of what’s been shaping you while building skills and insight that allow your life to work for you, not against you.
My role isn’t to tell you who to be.
My role is to walk with you as you shift into the life, identity, and version of yourself you’ve been working for.
